WE ARE MUSICAL 2022: Big musical festival to kick off the season at the Raimund Theater
Saturday, September 17, 2022

On September 17, 2022, the Raimund Theater opened its doors! Just in time for the start of the season, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien once again hosted the big musical festival WE ARE MUSICAL, this time in and around the musical theater in the 6th district. Visitors could expect an exciting afternoon in the historic house with insights behind the scenes. In addition to the first exclusive excerpts from the VBW musical success REBECCA (premiere on September 22, 2022), visitors could also experience many other great program items from the world of theater.

First exclusive excerpts from the VBW musical REBECCA

Already one week before the big gala premiere, the first exclusive excerpts from the musical thriller were presented on the stage of the Raimund Theater.

Open-air stage with lots of program

The musical stars Milica Jovanović, Wietske van Tongeren, Felix Martin and Anton Zetterholm performed live this year! They sung the most beautiful VBW musical songs on the open-air stage and created an unforgettable atmosphere. The audience could participate in a musical dance & musical sing-along. The moderation was again done by Robert Steiner and the popular rat "Rolf Rüdiger".

Dance workshops, face painting for children & exciting insights into everyday theater life

In addition to the musical programme, there were dance workshops for children, young people and adults organised by VBW JUNGES MUSICAL. There was the opportunity to rehearse well-known musical choreographies. In addition, visitors could look over the shoulders of VBW staff members as they go about their daily work in "workshop talks". From knotting wigs and making props to exciting stories from theatre life, there was much to discover and experience. Under the motto "How music is made", visitors also learned how instruments are used in the different musical styles and how they combine to form a common body of sound. The clarinet, saxophone, piano, bass, guitar and drums could be heard. Exciting stories about the creation of the musicals REBECCA and THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME were told by the dramaturges of the musical department during "introductions to the works". And there was also the popular face painting for children at this year's Musicalfest.

Souvenir flea market, food trucks & much more

For all musical lovers big and small, there was a large souvenir flea market with great merchandise from the latest productions. Food trucks in front of the Raimund Theater spoiled visitors with a variety of delicious dishes.
