In 1987, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW) took over the theatre, which was built in 1888 and was used as the ETABLISSEMENT RONACHER variety theatre, for the purpose of revitalisation. From 2005 to 2008, the theatre underwent a comprehensive functional refurbishment. Since then, the Ronacher has been delighting its visitors every evening with a balanced mix of international world hits and VBW's own productions.
