MUSICAL MEETS OPERA is an event for music enthusiasts from opera and musical. Based on the melodies from the musical and well-known opera scenes, content comparisons are made and nothing stands in the way of discovering the unknown genre. Rounds of interviews with everyone involved allow an expanded insight into the everyday life of opera and musical singers. Music connects no matter what language you speak.

MUSICAL MEETS OPERA wants to contribute to getting young people excited about music theater and discovering their love for music. This is made possible by the cooperation between the Vereinigten Bühnen Wien and the friends of the Vienna State Opera.

As in previous years, actors from the current musical production of the Raimund Theater - the musical MOZART! - and well-known colleagues from the genre of the opera together on stage. There will also be a guest appearance by the celebrated Janoska Ensemble. The audience can look forward to well-known melodies from the world of opera and musicals - accompanied by the orchestra of the United Stages Vienna - this time everything is about the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Through the matinee, Dr. Thomas Denmark, General Secretary of the Friends of the Vienna State Opera, who is also responsible for the idea and concept of the matinee. Mozart! Composer Sylvester Levay will also be among the guests of honor.

The musical MOZART! From the pen of the successful duo Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay illuminates the world musician, the historical figure, a legend of classical music. Mozart is shown here as an extraordinarily talented artist who nevertheless or precisely because of this struggles with the simple challenges of life. MOZART! - a drama about growing up - wants to free a historical figure that has become a cliché from kitsching and idolatry.
