Michael Reed Musical Supervisor / Arrangements
Michael Reed has been musical supervisor of more than 20 West End musicals, including THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, ZIEGFELD and SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, and of various Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals all over the world, including ASPECTS OF LOVE, WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND and JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT. AS a conductor, he has worked with leading British orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic and the BBC Concert Orchestra, and has also frequently conducted for BBC Radio Two. In 2008, he was musical supervisor for Ian Fleming’s CENTENARY CELEBRATION GALA at the London Palladium.
Michael Reed has recorded numerous albums, including the original version of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, José Carerra’s album “Passion”, and the hit single “Time to Say Goodbye” with Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. He has also worked as composer and arranger for films and theatre productions. In 1999, he won the Vivian Ellis Prize as Best Composer of the Year and the Warner/Chappell Prize for his musical LES ENFANTS DU PARADIS. In 2003, the musical GARBO, which he created together with Jim Steinman and Warner Brown, premiered in Stockholm. For many years, he has worked closely with the King’s Head Theatre in Islington, orchestrating and arranging productions including MR CINDERS, WONDERFUL TOWN and his own show SIX FOR GOLD. Michael Reed was the composer of four HOLIDAY ON ICE productions and also composed, orchestrated and conducted the show THE BEAUTY OF MAGIC with Hans Klok, which premiered in Las Vegas, directed by Anthony van Laast. He was also musical supervisor and orchestrator for 3 MUSKETIERE, ICH WAR NOCH NIEMALS IN NEW YORK and DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES. 2010 saw the beginning of Michael Reed’s collaboration with the Lake Thun Festival, where he worked as arranger and musical supervisor on DÄLLEBACH KARI and GOTTHELF. With Moritz Schneider, he co-wrote the music to THE VISIT, which he also arranged and orchestrated. For the Theater St. Gallen, he arranged and orchestrated the music for MOSES, the musical by Michael Kunze und Dieter Falk. He also supervised the Paris production of DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES and was arranger and musical supervisor on the Stage Entertainment Production MOEDER, IK WILL BIJ DE REVUE.
