Jim Steinman’s career began upon graduating in Drama from Amherst College. Having seen Steinman’s infamous rock epic “Dream Engine”, his mentor, Joe Papp, immediately offered him a contract with Papp’s Public Theater, where Jim Steinman put on his first musical, MORE THAN YOU DESERVE. According to Spin Magazine, one of the ten most significant encounters in the history of rock ’n’ roll took place when the singer Meat Loaf turned up to audition. In 1977, their first joint album, “Bat Out Of Hell”, appeared, becoming the most successful debut album ever and the second best-selling album of all time.  The sequel, “Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell”, made it to number one in 38 countries. Jim Steinman has penned such chart-topping hits as “Paradise By The Dashboard Light”, “Dead Ringer”, “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All”, “Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad”, “No Matter What”, “Holding Out For A Hero”, “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)” and “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”. His greatest hit, “Total Eclipse Of The Heart”, was inspired by the film “Nosferatu”. In 1996, Jim Steinman won a Grammy Award for Best Album for Céline Dion‘s “Falling Into You”, which he produced. His album “Bad for Good”, on which he sang most of the songs himself, went platinum, He has composed the music for films like “Footloose”, “Streets of Fire”, “The Shadow”, “The Mask of Zorro” and the MTV show “Wuthering Heights”. He also wrote the lyrics to Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND. He is currently working on the musical BAT OUT OF HELL.
