Howard has been nominated six times for Best Lighting Designer at the Laurence Olivier Awards, and won the award for his productions of CITY OF ANGELS (Donmar Warehouse) and MACBETH (Gielgud Theatre, Lyceum Theatre, Broadway). His most recent theatrical successes include AS YOU LIKE IT (@sohoplace), and he is currently working on the production of ROCK ME AMADEUS – THE FALCO MUSICAL (VBW). His West End productions include "MAMMA MIA!" (worldwide), "BLITHE SPIRIT" (Harold Pinter Theatre), "WIND IN THE WILLOWS" (The Palladium), "MARY POPPINS" (Prince Edward Theatre, and New Amsterdam Theatre NY), "THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST" (Vauderville Theatre), "AN IDEAL HUSBAND" (Vauderville Theatre), "NEVILLE'S ISLAND" (Duke of York Theatre), "GUYS AND DOLLS" (Piccadilly Theatre), "THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK" (Drury Lane), "RAGTIME" (Piccadilly Theatre), and "CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF" (The Lyric Theatre). His work at The National, The Old Vic, The Donmar Warehouse, Stratford East, The Menier Chocolate Factory and Chichester Festival Theatre includes "SOUTH PACIFIC", "EARTHQUAKES IN LONDON", "PRIVATE LIVES", "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead", "Measure for Measure", "The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui", "Saint Joan", "Anna Christie", which won the Knight of Illumination Award, "Tales from Hollywood", "Privates on Parade", "Shining City", "King Hedley", "SOUTH PACIFIC", "SHADOWLANDS", "MACK AND MABEL", and "The Truth". Dance productions he has worked on include "Phantom of the Opera" (Shanghai Ballet), Matthew Bourne's "Nutcracker", "Edward Scissorhands" (Sadlers Wells, touring the UK and US), "Swan Lake", "Romeo and Juliet", "Strictly Gershwin" (Shanghai Ballet and Queensland Ballet Co ENB at the Royal Albert Hall), and "Hamlet" (Shanghai Ballet).  His work in opera includes "The Barber of Seville" (The Lyric, Chicago), and "Nabucco" (The Metropolitan, New York).
