Since his 1988 debut at the National Theatre in London, Peter. J. Davison has designed sets for numerous operas, musicals, plays and dance performances. In dance, his credits include STRANGE FISH (DV8 Physical Theatre), which won him a 1992 Time Out Award, EDWARD II (Stuttgart Ballett/Birmingham Royal Ballet); NUTCRACKER SWEETIES and ARTHUR PARTS 1 & 2 (Birmingham Royal Ballet), and LES SAISONS (Royal Ballet). His credits in straight drama include set designs for WHEN WE DEAD AWAKEN, ALL FOR LOVE, THE RULES OF THE GAME, MEDEA, SCHOOL FOR WIVES, HAMLET and MR PETER’S CONNECTIONS (Almeida Theatre); BED, THE BEAUX’ STRATAGEM, LE CID, COPENHAGEN, DEMOCRACY and AFTERLIFE (National Theatre); THE LIAR (The Old Vic); SAINT JOAN (Theatr Clwyd/Tour/ West End/Sydney Theatre Company); LIFE AFTER GEORGE, EMBERS (West End); DEUCE, BLITHE SPIRIT and IS HE DEAD (Broadway). His work for the Royal Shakespeare Company includes set designs for THE WHITE DEVIL, DON CARLOS and THE DUCHESS OF MALFI. Another production, MEDEA, also ran in the West End and on Broadway, while HAMLET and COPENHAGEN both transferred to Broadway. He has also designed sets for musicals like THE BOY FROM OZ (Sydney), WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND (West End), SHOWBOAT (Royal Albert Hall/Chicago Lyric Opera), ALADDIN (Disney’s California Adventure), REBECCA (Vienna/St. Gallen/Stuttgart), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (UK/USA Tour/Broadway/DVD production) and SPIRAL (Hiatang Bay, China). For MEDEA, he was nominated for a Tony, a Drama Desk Award and an Olivier Award.  In 1994, Peter J. Davison won a Martini/TMA Regional Theatre Award for best set design for MEDEA and SAINT JOAN. He was also nominated for an Olivier for LE CID and SAINT JOAN. He was also production designer for the film “Jesus Christ Superstar”, for which he won an International Emmy in the category Performing Arts.
