Anthony van Laast Choreography
Internationally-renowned choreographer Anthony van Laast works all over the world. He has created the choreography for numerous musicals, including MAMMA MIA!, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT (nominated for an Olivier Award and a Drama-Logue Award), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, SONG AND DANCE (winner of a Green Room Award), CANDIDE, HAIR, SISTER ACT, INTO THE WOODS and BOMBAY DREAMS (nominated for a Tony Award). He also creates choreography for operas, including THE MIKADO und THE MERRY WIDOW (English National Opera), CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA and PAGLIACCI (Berlin) and THE THREEPENNY OPERA (Vienna). He also works in film and television. Anthony van Laast has choreographed numerous concerts for famous performers, including Mika, Sarah Brightman, Kate Bush and Barry Humphries (Dame Edna). He has also choreographed Las Vegas shows for Michael Crawford and Siegfried and Roy, and created the choreography for films such as “Mamma Mia!”, “Excalibur”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Jesus Christ Superstar” (winner of an Emmy Award), as well as “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1”. He also created the choreography for the upcoming Disney film “Beauty and the Beast” (to be released in 2017). Anthony van Laast was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 1999 for his services to dance and choreography.
