Mark McCullough creates lighting designs for opera houses and theaters in the United States and around the world. His work includes. Productions for the Vienna State Opera (MACBETH), the Bolshoi Theatre (LA TRAVIATA), the Metropolitan Opera (LE NOZZE DI FIGARO), the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing (HOFFMANNS ERZÄHLUNGEN), La Scala in Milan (CYRANO DE BERGERAC), the Teatro Real in Madrid (LUISA MILLER), the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg (THE BEGGAR'S OPERA) and the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden (THE QUEEN OF SPADES). He has also been responsible for numerous productions at Lyric Opera in Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Seattle Opera and San Francisco Opera, including the Ring cycle directed by Francesca Zambello. His theatrical successes in the U.S. include the Broadway productions of HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE, OUTSIDE MULLINGAR, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (revival), AFTER MS. JULIE and THE AMERICAN PLAN as well as internationally WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND (Aldwych Theatre, London), THE VISIT OF THE OLD LADY (Ronacher), ARTUS - EXCALIBUR (Theater St.Gallen, Switzerland), REBECCA (Theater St.Gallen and Palladium Theater, Stuttgart) and the UK tour of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Future engagements include WEST SIDE STORY at Lyric Opera in Chicago and ELEKTRA at Washington National Opera.
