We Are Musical – The Next Generation 2019
MUSICAL STARS OF TOMORROW
On 24 June 2019, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW) and the City of Vienna’s Private University of Music and the Arts (MUK) – both subsidiaries of Wien Holding – presented ‘WE ARE MUSICAL – THE NEXT GENERATION’, marking the third consecutive year they had organised a very special evening at the Ronache
This event, developed specifically by VBW and MUK and dedicated to the performers of tomorrow, is all about nurturing young talent and has already been met with great acclaim at the Ronacher in previous years. ‘WE ARE MUSICAL – THE NEXT GENERATION’ gives young artists the opportunity to perform on a big stage for the first time and introduce themselves to a wide audience. True to the motto: ‘Tomorrow’s stars meet today’s stars’, they will be supported by former MUK students who are already established in the industry.
Alongside this year’s graduates from the MUK’s ‘Musical Entertainment Theatre’ course, the audience was also treated to performances by musical stars Lisa Antoni, Patricia Nessy and Lukas Perman. Together with the students, they presented the audience with a varied selection of pieces from the genre, offering insights into the world of musical theatre.
The event was hosted by Werner Sobotka, the well-known director, actor and deputy head of the ‘Musical Entertainment Theatre’ course. A seven-piece live band performed under the direction of Peter Uwira.
