WE ARE MUSICAL – The Next Generation 2022
SUPPORTING YOUNG TALENT AT THE RAIMUND THEATER
On 20 June 2022, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW) and the City of Vienna’s Private University of Music and the Arts (MUK) presented WE ARE MUSICAL – THE NEXT GENERATION for the fourth time. The concert, which was specially developed and launched jointly in 2017, and which once again focused entirely on promoting young talent, took place at the Raimund Theater for the first time this year.

Alongside this year’s MUK graduates and students on the ‘Musical Entertainment Theatre’ course, the audience was treated to special guests Caroline Athanasiadis, Boris Pfeifer and Verena Scheitz – all three of whom are also MUK alumni. Together, they presented a varied selection from the genre, offering insights into the world of musical theatre. The audience responded with prolonged applause and enthusiastic cheers for the young artists and stars.
As in previous years, the event was hosted by the well-known director and MUK lecturer Werner Sobotka. Under the musical direction of Peter Uwira, himself a professor on the Musical Entertainment Theatre programme, a seven-piece live band performed.

WE ARE MUSICAL – THE NEXT GENERATION gives young artists the chance to perform on a big stage for the first time and introduce themselves to a wide audience. On this evening, they’ll share the limelight with well-known guests who are already established in the industry. True to the motto: the stars of tomorrow meet the stars of today. The event, developed specifically by VBW and MUK and dedicated to the performers of tomorrow, has already been met with great acclaim at the Ronacher in previous years.
