As part of the cultural outreach programme run by the musical theatre division of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, VBW JUNGES MUSICAL, a musical workshop was recently held for the first time at the secondary school within the Nussdorf compulsory education cluster.

Over four consecutive days, the three Year 8 classes worked on the prologue to MARIA THERESIA – DAS MUSICAL – and they did so in an impressively short time: Each class rehearsed for just one day before the three parts were brought together in the school hall. 

They then presented the result in the school hall to parents, relatives and primary school children – and got a taste of the stage themselves. The young performers impressed with their dedication and enthusiasm: there was live singing, rapping and dancing.

In addition, the pupils also explored the theme of costumes creatively and designed bows inspired by the original designs from the musical.

A particular highlight was the group trip to see the musical: at the invitation of Wiener Städtische Versicherung, a total of 60 pupils were able to experience MARIA THERESIA – DAS MUSICAL live at the Ronacher and rediscover the content of the workshop on the big stage.
