MUSICALWORKSHOP at the MS Gassergasse school

As part of the educational programme run by the musical theatre division of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien – VBW JUNGES MUSICAL – a musical workshop was held at MS Gassergasse for the eighth time this year.
Over a total of four sessions, young people from three classes engaged intensively with MARIA THERESIA, gaining fascinating insights into the diverse daily life of the theatre at the Ronacher. Key themes from the play were explored in a playful and interactive way, with the group working together to examine topics such as the basic principles of democracy, historical figures of power in the play, and traditional versus modern role models.
The creative activities continued with an art workshop, where the pupils were able to recreate the MT poster using recycled materials and also bring their own artistic ideas to life. Young people keen on dance also had the chance to try their hand at a parkour workshop and get to know this challenging and urban form of movement and dance, which also plays a central role in MARIA THERESIA. A choreography to a song from the musical was rehearsed and subsequently presented in the school’s gym.
As an atmospheric finale to the musical workshop, the pupils were invited by Wiener Städtische Versicherung to attend the hit musical at the Ronacher. Beaming faces and great jubilation among the pupils.
