Singing, dancing & plenty of stage time
The first “VBW Musical Workshop for Adults” recently took place with great energy and enthusiasm. Organised by the VBW’s musical theatre outreach programme under the direction of Margarete Reichel-Neuwirth, the event gave around 50 musical theatre enthusiasts the chance to immerse themselves in the world of the genre and get a taste of life on stage.
The three-hour workshop kicked off with a light-hearted, interactive warm-up to get everyone in the right frame of mind. The participants were then split into two groups – singing and dance. Whilst one group rehearsed the title song “Wir alle sind M.T.” from MARIA THERESIA – THE MUSICAL with Carsten Paap, the musical director, the other worked on the choreography for “Es lebe der Sport” from the VBW hit musical I AM FROM AUSTRIA with Georg Prohazka, a musical theatre performer – then the groups swapped. In addition, the musical enthusiasts were given fascinating background information on the productions as well as interesting insights into the varied day-to-day life behind the scenes.
The grand finale saw the participants showcase what they had learnt on the main stage of the Ronacher. It was an unforgettable and truly special moment on stage for everyone.
