ROMANCE, DARK SECRETS AND EERIE SUSPENSE

The story begins in 1926 in a hotel in Monte Carlo, where "I" meet Maxim de Winter, who has recently lost his wife, while working as a companion to the wealthy American Mrs Van Hopper. A romantic relationship quickly develops between "I" and Maxim, leading to their marriage. After a romantic honeymoon in Venice, the couple return to Maxim's estate, Manderley, in Cornwall, where "I" is confronted with the constant presence of Maxim's late first wife, Rebecca, and the manipulative housekeeper Mrs. Danvers. The love story at Manderley gradually develops into a gripping thriller with many intrigues and dark surprises.
