I Am From Austria - Workshop
at NMS Gassergasse

As part of the cultural outreach programme of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW), a week-long workshop on the VBW's latest in-house production, I AM FROM AUSTRIA, took place at the NMS Gassergasse at the end of March.
250 pupils – 98 per cent of whom are non-native German speakers – took part and explored the show in class. During the workshop, they worked on two songs by Rainhard Fendrich, learned choreography and developed scenes about their relationship to Austria, their lives here and what home means to them. The workshop was supported by Casinos Austria, a long-standing sponsor of the VBW.
Mag. Bettina Glatz-Kremsner, Executive Director of Casinos Austria, surprised the 250 children at the end of the workshop with free tickets to see the show. In the presence of Director Andrea Walach, she symbolically presented an oversized ticket for the joint musical visit to the Raimund Theatre. This was met with great cheers from the pupils. She also told the children and young people her own story: Ms Bettina Glatz-Kremsner was born in Austria but grew up in Hungary, went to school in Budapest, graduated from high school there and returned to Vienna to study. In a joint exchange, she praised the children's commitment and encouraged them to continue studying hard in order to build a good foundation for their future lives.
