For the seventh time, the cultural outreach programme of the musical division VBW JUNGES MUSICAL organised an interactive musical workshop at MS Gassergasse.

This time, three Year 3 classes from the school attended Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Over a total of three days, the focus was on the musical genre, the diverse professions in theatre and the global hit musical about the mystical "Phantom".

During the workshop, the young people explored the different roles in the musical and uncovered the secrets of an opera house, which is also the setting for the play. There was singing, acting and crafting. Inspired by the fascinating crystal chandelier from the production, the participants worked with the stage technicians to create a colourful and unique stage prop, with each student designing a decorative piece. The crafting allowed the young people to work together to realise an idea, thereby promoting creativity, expressiveness and team spirit.

To round off the workshop, the pupils were invited by Wiener Städtische Versicherung to see THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at the Raimund Theater. On this evening, the pupils were able to experience the musical and the crystal chandelier, which plays a central role in the play, live. A very special day for everyone!
