Musical workshops at the Raimund Theatre
Cooperation with OeAD and Basis.Kultur.Wien

On 30 May 2022, the third workshop of the VBW JUNGES MUSICAL cultural education apprentice project kicked off. Three musical workshops took place at the Raimund Theatre on three dates in May as part of the "K3 Cultural Education with Apprentices" project funded by OeAD and Basis.Kultur.Wien. Under the title "MUSICAL – more than theatre", three apprentice classes gained insights into the musical genre and the working world at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien.
In an eight-hour musical workshop based on the musical MISS SAIGON, methods from theatre education, improvisation, singing and dance were used to discuss the content, question role models, establish references to the present and find connections between musicals and the lives of young adults. During a backstage tour and a lecture, the young people gained insights into everyday working life at the VBW. The project was rounded off with a visit to a performance of MISS SAIGON at the Raimund Theater.
VBW YOUNG MUSICAL – a space between stage and audience
VBW YOUNG MUSICAL is aimed at children and young people, school pupils, apprentices and teachers. The programme aims to create a space between stage and audience, to inspire young people with musical theatre, to introduce them to the diverse world of musicals and to bring them closer to the magic of theatre. The aim is to showcase all the different facets of the musical genre. VBW YOUNG MUSICAL wants to give young people a glimpse behind the scenes of current VBW musical productions, encourage them to dance, sing and act themselves, and introduce them to the different areas of musical theatre in a special, participatory way. With VBW JUNGES MUSICAL ZU HAUSE, the VBW musical division is expanding its offering to include a digital platform.
