Information on compliance with the Accessibility Act
The accessibility of our digital offerings is a key concern for Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. We want to ensure that everyone – regardless of individual abilities or technical requirements – can use our websites as equally as possible. In this statement, we provide information on how we implement the requirements of the Accessibility Act (BaFG) and what measures we have taken to make our digital offerings accessible. This statement applies to the websites
www.vbw.at, www.musicalvienna.at and www.theater-wien.at.
Description of our services
Our websites provide information about the venues, productions, artists and events of Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. Users can find out about programmes and content and purchase tickets via linked ticket systems.
Status of compliance with requirements
We endeavour to make our Vereinigte Bühnen Wien website at www.vbw.at, www.theater-wien.at and www.musicalvienna.at accessible in accordance with the Accessibility Act, as amended, implementing the European Accessibility Directive (RL 2019/882) on the accessibility requirements for products and services.
In doing so, the guidelines for accessible web content – WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.2 – have been adhered to as far as possible. In addition, with the help of the "easy2see" function set, which was installed by an external partner and developed several years ago in cooperation with the BSVÖ (Austrian Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired), further barriers that may have arisen with regard to colour contrasts and/or text sizes were removed. The website of Vereinigte Bühnen Wien has therefore been made available in alternative visual versions in accordance with the WCAG guidelines in order to meet the requirements. Implementation of accessibility requirements
Our websites have been designed to comply with the basic principles of accessibility: perceptible, operable, understandable and robust.
Perceptibility
- High-contrast displays and alternative colour schemes
- Adjustable text sizes without loss of content or functionality
- Clearly structured content with logically organised headings
- Alternative text for images, unless they are purely decorative
Usability
- The websites can be used entirely via keyboard
- Skip navigation and jump marks facilitate orientation
- No flashing or flickering content
Comprehensibility
- Clearly structured and comprehensible content
- Recognisable language settings for assistive technologies
- Textual hints for input errors in forms
Robustness
- Compatibility with common screen reader and browser combinations
- Use of standard-compliant HTML and ARIA structures
- Ongoing technical development and quality assurance
For additional support, functions for adjusting colour contrasts and text sizes are available to better meet individual needs.
Non-accessible content
Despite our efforts, not all content is currently fully accessible.
Incompatibility with accessibility regulations
- In some cases, PDF documents are available for download on the websites that are not yet fully accessible.
- When using the event search via keyboard control, restrictions may occur in individual versions of screen reader software, particularly when opening the search form via the search icon.
Disproportionate burden
- For economic and organisational reasons, it is currently not possible to make older PDF and Office documents fully accessible retrospectively.
- The websites are not yet fully available in "simple language". Implementation is being reviewed, but a specific timeframe cannot be given at this time.
Content outside the scope of application
- Content published before 28 June 2025 is excluded from the scope of application in accordance with the Accessibility Act.
- Third-party content, in particular
- the online shop (operated by WTS Wien Ticket Service GmbH)
- the career section (embedded iFrame)
are beyond our immediate control.
