Would you like to prepare for or follow up a visit to the musical with your class?
Our education resources for teachers provide the ideal basis for working through the content of the musical creatively and interactively with your pupils.
They contain further information about the show as well as theatre education exercises.
The VBW Education Day is a highlight for anyone who wants to know how theatre really works. In a programme put together especially for the day, experts from the VBW musical division provide exciting insights into their stage professions. From make-up to technology to stage design: the pupils experience live on a large stage how many trades have to work together to put on a musical every evening. In a relaxed atmosphere, they can ask the experts questions in a plenary session or in a personal discussion. The programme concludes with a joint visit to the musical, during which the impressions of the morning are brought into harmony with the musical in the evening.

Combining a musical workshop with vocational training? Thanks to the cooperation with the OeAD and Basis.Kultur.Wien, the VBW enables apprentices not only to see musicals, but also to experience them. In an all-day workshop, the young vocational school students get to grips with a current VBW production. They dance, sing, act, take a look behind the scenes and relate the themes of the play to the young people's lives. The VBW also provides insights into different professional fields.

Musicals – More Than Just Theater! Under this motto, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien is hosting exciting musical workshops for apprentices in April in cooperation with OeAD-GmbH – Agency for Education and Internationalization and Basis.Kultur.Wien.
In cooperation with OeAD-GmbH - Agency for Education and Internationalisation and Basis.Kultur.Wien, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW), a company of Wien Holding, offered apprentices the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the VBW musical hit ROCK ME AMADEUS – THE FALCO MUSICAL in January and February.
In March, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, in cooperation with OeAD-GmbH – Agency for Education and Internationalisation and Basis.Kultur.Wien, offered apprentices the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the musical and the successful VBW in-house production ROCK ME AMADEUS – DAS FALCO MUSICAL.
In January and February 2023, three apprentice workshops were held again as part of the "K3 Cultural Education with Apprentices" project sponsored by the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation and Basis.Kultur.Wien. Under the title "MUSICAL – more than theatre", four classes gained insights into the musical genre and the working world at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, this time focusing on the hit musical REBECCA.
On 30 May 2022, the third workshop of the VBW JUNGES MUSICAL cultural education apprentice project kicked off. Three musical workshops took place at the Raimund Theatre on three dates in May as part of the "K3 Cultural Education with Apprentices" project funded by OeAD and Basis.Kultur.Wien. Under the title "MUSICAL – more than theatre", three apprentice classes gained insights into the musical genre and the working world at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien.
Cooperation with a secondary school
Connecting musicals with the world of young people? The co-operation with MS Gassergasse shows how! A school spends four days working on a current VBW production: in terms of content, art and interactivity. The content of the show is taken up and linked to current social issues and the reality of the pupils' lives. There is dancing, singing and acting. The highlight is a visit to the musical.

As part of the cultural outreach programme run by the musical theatre division of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, VBW JUNGES MUSICAL, a musical workshop was recently held for the first time at the secondary school within the Nussdorf compulsory education cluster.
As part of the educational programme run by the musical theatre division of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien – VBW JUNGES MUSICAL – a musical workshop was held at MS Gassergasse for the eighth time this year.
For the seventh time, the cultural education programme of the VBW JUNGES MUSICAL division held an interactive musical workshop at the Gassergasse Secondary School (MS Gassergasse).
For the sixth time, VBW JUNGES MUSICAL, the cultural outreach programme of the musical division of Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, organised a large-scale musical theatre outreach project at MS Gassergasse, focusing on the current VBW hit production ROCK ME AMADEUS – DAS FALCO MUSICAL. This time, the project was carried out in collaboration with DIALOG, the individual addiction counselling service in Vienna.
This year, the cultural outreach programme of the musical division VBW JUNGES MUSICAL once again held a four-day workshop at NMS Gassergasse. The fourth-year classes explored universal themes such as prejudice, bullying and anti-Gypsyism based on the content of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME.
For the fourth time, the cultural outreach programme of the musical division VBW JUNGES MUSICAL held a participatory musical workshop at MS Gassergasse. This time, the workshop focused on the current production MISS SAIGON with the school's 4th grade classes. Over four days, the themes of the musical were explored through movement, acting, music, crafts, theatre education and improvisation, with a focus on the plot and characters. The workshop centred on topics that are particularly relevant to young people, such as conflict resolution, communication and changing perspectives. Classic role models were also analysed and questioned, and opportunities for expanding one's own horizons were highlighted.
Promotion of children and young people
In their long-standing partnership, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien and Wiener Städtische Versicherung not only focus on promoting art and culture, but also emphasise the promotion of children and young people. The aim is to awaken interest in art and culture at a young age, facilitate access and promote talent.

For the 13th time, the long-standing partnership between Vereinigte Bühnen Wien and Wiener Städtische Versicherung offered 100 schoolchildren from across Austria an unforgettable theatre experience.
For the twelfth time, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien and Wiener Städtische Versicherung focused their long-standing cooperation on cultural education and youth development. A theatre visit and musical workshop offered schoolchildren space for creativity, fun and enjoyment of musical theatre.
Experiencing musical theatre up close – this was made possible for 100 schoolchildren from all over Austria for the twelfth time this year thanks to the long-standing partnership between Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, a Wien Holding company, and Wiener Städtische Versicherung. They attended the latest hit production ROCK ME AMADEUS – DAS FALCO MUSICAL by Vereinigte Bühnen Wien at the Ronacher.
For the eleventh time, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien and Wiener Städtische Versicherung invited 100 schoolchildren from all over Austria to a VBW theatre, continuing their long-standing partnership dedicated to cultural education and youth development. The common goal is to awaken a lasting interest in art and culture, to facilitate access and to provide a space for discovering and expressing creativity and talent.
