JOSEPHINE had its opening night!

further information:

In 1932, Josephine Baker, the first black woman superstar, gave a performance at what was then called Etablissement Ronacher. Her ecstatic dances and mesmerizing sensuality drew rousing cheers from a wildly enthusiastic audience. More than 70 years later, the charms of the black Venus have lost nothing of their magic: To wide acclaim, Jérôme Savary’s show A LA RECHERCHE DE / LOOKING FOR JOSEPHINE had its German-language premiere at the RONACHER on June 16. The amazing Nicolle Rochelle in the double role of young Cindy, who is cast for a „Revue Négre“, and Josephine Baker in the second act not only enthralled the audience with her fiery dance in a banana skirt. Her wonderful jazz and step dance numbers, too, cast a spell on the auditorium. The highlights of the evening included an appearance of theatre magician Jérôme Savary on stage. Grabbing a microphone and a trumpet, he worked his phenomenal, witty charm on the audience.

Beim anschließenden Sekt-Umtrunk im Wintergarten feierten mit der gesamten Company und Band Direktor Thomas Drozda, Intendantin Kathrin Zechner, Nina Blum, Vincent Bueno, Prof. KR Franz Häussler, Direktor KommR Peter Hanke, Krista Stadler, Sigrid Hauser, Christian Kolonovits, Monika Lindner, Vizebürgermeister Dr. Michael Ludwig, Ulrike Beimpold, Ramesh Nair, Nina Proll, Vizebürgermeister a.D.
