On Sunday, February 22, 2009, THE PRODUCERS said goodbye to Vienna. Since its premiere at the Ronacher, some 114,000 visitors were enthralled by the breathtaking, hilariously funny Mel Brooks show – now, it’s time to say goodbye. The audience showed their appreciation of our fantastic team with standing ovations and flower showers – and showed little willingness to let its favourite actors leave the stage. That includes Bettina Mönch, Cornelius Obonya, Andreas Bieber, Herbert Steinböck, Martin Sommerlatte, and Rob Pelzer.
Quite a few tears were shed but at the Ronacher’s canteen, a festive mood soon caught on. Everyone joined in the celebration: Artistic Director Kathrin Zechner, all those working on, off, and behind the stage, as well as many friends and colleagues, among them Director of the Theater in der Josefstadt Herbert Föttinger, Burgtheater actor Peter Simonischek, and „Rudolf“ Drew Sarich.
Even though they find it hard to say goodbye to Vienna, they are all looking forward to relocating to Berlin where THE PRODUCERS will premiere at the Admiralspalast in May. Soon, it will be time to say, “go pack your bags and HAVE A GOOD TRIP to Berlin!”
